FIRST ATTEMPT AT MAKING MACARONS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY – A Silk Scarf

FIRST ATTEMPT AT MAKING MACARONS FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

I tried baking macarons for the first time so I could package them for Valentine’s Day gifts!  I should emphasize that word, TRIED. I didn’t make the most beautiful cookie but I will say they were still deliciouuuuus.  YUM! I’ll capitalize that one! I felt like I should have been in a French kitchen. There isn’t a whole lot of ingredients to the recipe but the steps are very important in order to get that beautiful petite french look.  Read below for the tips and tricks I learned in my first attempt.

I thought these could be the perfect Valentine’s Day gift because these cookies are adorable, small, and pink! They’re easy to package in these macaron boxes.

I got this Strawberry Macaron Recipe from The Cloudy Kitchen. Erin makes mouth watering desserts!

The steps in making these cookies are essential. You want the cookies to not only be yummy but also look yummy.  Here are the important steps I learned and I will definitely use on my next try to make these cookies look more yummy!

  • Make sure you really place the confectioners sugar, almond flour, and salt through a food processor. It needs to be really fine.

  • Sift the dry ingredients after they are processed.

  • Once you mix the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients make sure you can do the figure eight with the spatula without the batter breaking.

  • Make sure to measure and draw the circles on the parchment paper for your batter, so they’re all the same size for cooking time.

  • Once you’ve piped them into circles on the baking sheet, bang the baking sheet onto the table a couple times. Then rotate the pan and do it again.

  • Before putting them into the oven let them sit in room temperature for at least a half hour.

  • Rotate pan every 5 minutes in the oven as it’s baking.

  • The cookies need to be completely cool before you put the frosting on.

All these tips are in the recipe from The Cloudy Kitchen. However, I just want to emphasize them so you get that perfect macaron French look! These would make the cutest Valentine’s Gift to loved ones!
